Trick Or Treaters Beware...
You are in for a scare!
The Sky Country Neighborhood hereby invites you to join us for Trick or Treating on Halloween. While the premise is timeless, here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:
1. Always go out in groups.
2. Look both ways before crossing the street.
3. Stay visible-keep a flashlight or a glowstick on you-anything to be seen.
4. Please respect the haunters! This means no touching decorations or monsters. Many of us have spent a lot of time and money on our décor and it is fragile. Respect us and we will respect you.
5. If you are driving from house to house, please keep it to about 20 mph, we would hate to have an accident.
6. Some of the more popular streets will be encouraged to close to cars this year to keep everyone safe, please respect this and exercise your legs when necessary.
7. Please go out of your way to visit some of the houses that are not on the popular streets-the more neighbors see activity, the more that will participate in the future.

Refresh the link right before you leave-the map updates as I add more houses.
What is this???
Six years ago, the common theme amongst the Sky Country social media threads was a frustration with a lack of trick or treaters. Many of us had the spirit, but we didn't have people to share it with. It turns out the trick or treaters didnt know that we put on such an expansive display. As such the answer seemed simple, we created a google map and distributed it around our community. It has grown bigger and bigger every year.
Spooky Stuff???? I want in.....
Getting involved is easy! If you live in Sky Country and can commit to passing out candy on Halloween, just send me your address and I will add you to the map, go as extravagant or as simple as you like and hand out to whom ever you want. Enjoy being part of an epic community and be prepared for a scare!
Frequently Asked Questions from Haunters
Why are you inviting in people from outside the community?
Trick or Treaters have always gone to neighborhoods that are perceived as "the best" either because of the candy, the amount of houses participating, or the decorations. People will come to what they perceive is the best, even if its not their neighborhood. Plus, a few years ago, most were complaining about not getting enough trick or treaters- problem solved.

Now people with bad intentions have a map of our community.
Right you are. However, we do not live in a gated community and this map is accessible to anyone who has access to the internet.
Plus, statistically crime rates are lower among communities that do outreach because they interact with others.

I don't like the idea of the map, but I still want to pass out candy.
Please do! You do not need to be on the map to pass out candy.

What do I get for being on the map?
The map is solely to let trick or treaters know which houses are participating. I am working on creating a larger sense of belonging for those involved so this year haunters will get an exclusive sticker, and a thank you note.

Advice From Haunters For Haunters
The advice below is a product of feedback from previous years. You by no means need to follow it, we are just sharing our experiences to help you. If you would like to contribute tips, please feel free to message me.
1. For those with streets with a lot of foot traffic, consider barricading the street to cut down on vehicle traffic. (Contact me for supplies)
2. Try to have walkways lit. This can be a challenge this time of year, but it prevents injuries and prevents your yard and decorations from getting unwanted attention.
3. If you have a narrow entryway to your house, consider passing out candy in the driveway. It prevents blockages and provides easier passageways for those who have strollers.
4. For houses with a lot of props that need to be plugged in, consider renting a generator to run them. Fog machines in particular pull a lot of power and can blow fuses.
